Vote 2006 Presents 2006 Candidates for
Washington DC Board of Education District IV Member
Who would you vote for?

Jackie Pinckney Hackett Jimmy Johnson William Lockridge Jacque D. Patterson Cardell Shelton
School Board District IV Member Candidate Jimmy Johnson's responses:
Why are you seeking election to the Washington DC School Board?
I'm seeking election to the school board because of the high rate of corruption and deceit towards the citizens and children of the District of Columbia. The school board, presently, is in complete shambles, behaves as if it has no responsibility, no visible means for processing complaints and no accountability.  No one knows where the money is. where or to whom the money's going to, and for what purposes the money is being spent.

What are your qualifications for the position you seek?
I have a deep sincerity for and a God-given ability & honest approach towards the welfare of children. I have run an organization, the Complaint and Resolution Center, which identifies and monitors complaints within agencies for more than 15 years. These experiences have provided me with a deep insight on identifying problems and solving them. Whoever is chosen for the District IV Member position must be able to possess these qualifications.

In your opinion what are the five major issues facing the Washington DC School System?

  • Civil Rights -  Violating the rights & welfare of children is a major civil rights issue.
  • Accountability - Lack of system-wide accountability, financial, policy making and administrative.
  • Systemic Corruption - System is corrupt and non-functional.
  • Safety & Security
  • Major Heath Issues - system lacks proper medial personnel & facilities and high incidence of HIV-AIDS within student population.
Who or what is to blame?
We all are to blame and it will require all of us to get involved to clean it up. We seem to focus more on hiring people to work and run the system based on their number of degrees as opposed to their desires, abilities and qualifications to perform the required duties.

What is your opinion of mayoral candidate Adrian M. Fenty's position that the elected Washington DC School Board be converted to an appointed advisory panel?
First I believe this is a tactic that Councilmember Fenty is using to activate discussion about the status of the school system. I do not believe that "Mayor" Fenty would not violate the voting rights of the citizens of the District of Columbia.

Do you have a web site for your candidacy?
No, however my email address is complaintcenter@comcast.net
